When Lora and Kevin Goodwin first began growing and selling organic strawberries and vegetables in 1998, they had no idea that they would one day produce handcrafted artisan spirits. As they worked the land, they experienced first hand the importance of supporting local farms. They felt the positive impact a community’s agriculture had on both the environment and its prosperity. And they planted the seeds of a dream to leverage this experience, a love of growing their own food and the desire to make a finished farm product into a local business.
That dream was brought to fruition in Kootenay Country Craft Distillery (KCCD).
KCCD reflects the deep family farm and agricultural traditions that define the Kootenay Region of British Columbia. The distillery marries organic, heirloom grains, 100-mile-sourced agricultural products and pure spring waters to artisan distillation methods, creating unique spirits that combine the terroir of the Kootenay Region with Kevin and Lora’s sense of craft and determination.

Water and the Art of Distillation
The Kootenay region of British Columbia is synonymous with glacial-fed lakes, rivers and free-flowing spring waters. This pristine water — the ingredient a distiller's dreams are made of — is the foundation rock of our fine spirits. We will build upon that rock with carefully-selected, locally-grown grains and the finest seasonal fruits.
Keven and Lora Goodwin have learned the caring art of distillation first hand under the mentorship of a Master Craft Distiller. They bring this knowledge, from the basics to the important secrets and tricks of distilling, to Kootenay Country Craft Distillery.
This combination — water, fine ingredients and art — will ensure a quality spirit. Enjoy!
